Biography[edit]

Can't tell what's happening with the biography. Commas seem to be replaced by periods. And the syntax is a little weird. The citation is to an encyclopedia. Does anyone have familiarity with the source? Did someone copy verbatim? Should someone just rework it, for grammar and readability, either way? Waltergrinder (talk) 22:05, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Possible copyvio[edit]

I believe that this version (i.e. the version before I made some edits) may contain information copied directly from another source. That source, which is cited at the end of the copied text, is Lyon Gardiner Tyler's 1915 Encyclopedia of Virginia Biography. I do not have access to this source, and would appreciate somebody who has the source investigating the matter. I believe that large sections of the "early life" and "political career" may require rewording (rewording that I began earlier today) to a) avoid copyvio, and b) conform to Wikipedia style guidelines. pbp 04:23, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Purplebackpack89: Was there anything in particular that makes you suspect a copy'vio? It would seem we would need more than a suspicion of any such copy'vio before tagging the article. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 21:04, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

the suffix[edit]

Was he called "of Caroline" in his lifetime, or was that tag added later by historians to distinguish him from some contemporary with a similar name? —Tamfang (talk) 08:37, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
