Requested move of page or change of title of page[edit]

The only source cited in the article states that the subject of the article is 'Lord Neville', not 1st Baron Neville de Raby, and the other sources I've looked at, Richardson's Magna Carta Ancestry, 2nd ed., Vol. III, pp. 250-1, and the online Oxford Dictionary of National Biography entry for his brother, Ralph Neville, 2nd Earl of Westmorland,[1] also indicate that this particular John Neville, who was slain at the Battle of Towton on 29 March 1461, was Baron Neville, not 1st Baron Neville de Raby. Moreover the ODNB article on Ralph Neville, 2nd Earl of Westmorland, states that he recovered the lordship of Raby in 1443 by settlement with the Beauforts, which make it even more unlikely that Westmorland's brother, the subject of this article, was 1st Baron Neville de Raby.

According to the Complete Peerage, Vol. X, p. 711:

The third and fourth Lords Neville were summoned to Parliament from 24 February 1367/8 to 30 November 1396 by writs directed (blank) Nevill de Raby. See Neville, Barony by writ, created 1295, sub the 3rd and 4th Lords, the latter of whom was created, 29 September 1397, Earl of Westmorland, with which dignity the Barony continued until both were forfeited in 1570 by the attainder of the 6th Earl.

See also The Complete Peerage, Vol. IX, p. 491 and the pedigree in article following after p. 502.

John Neville, 1st Baron Neville de RabyJohn Neville, Baron Neville –Reasons for moving the page are cited earlier on this Talk page. In addition I checked the two sources cited on another Wikipedia page, the Baron Neville de Raby page, and neither of them refers to this particular individual as Baron Neville de Raby.NinaGreen (talk) 17:27, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
