Implacable opponent of the Yorkists?[edit]

Odd then that he was sent as ambassador to France by Edward IV in Feb 1477. I agree with the previous post! Johnbod 22:34, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is odd is that the article doesn't include anything of his life before 1477 - which was the interesting part! For example, he was one of the architects of the bills of attainder that were passed against the leading Yorkists (including Edward IV and his father) at the Parliament of Devils in 1459. He was indeed a loyal Lancastrian and opponent of York until the Lancastrian cause was defeated at Tewkesbury (he even accompanied Margaret of Anjou and her son into exile after Towton). After that he managed to make peace with the Yorkists. Presumably, his talents outweighed his previous loyalties. Fled Overseas ?[edit]

"...Morton, who fled overseas and plotted against Richard after the former had escaped from custody in 1483..."

The main paragraph of his life does not cover this, merely mentioning an incarceration in Brecknock Castle. What sources clarify what Morton was doing and his whereabouts between 1483 and 1485 ? RGCorris (talk) 13:12, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
