Emmy nominations[edit]

Another account of proof, As a long time friend and actress who has worked for John Glines, I know for a fact that John Glines has been nominated for both Sesame Street and Captain Kangaroo for an Emmy Award. I've seen the plaques myself in his apartment in New York. How dare the editor of this online site call him a liar! - EAH, 20:07, March 10, 2007 (UTC)

Captain Kangaroo & Sesame Street???[edit]

Can anyone provide a source for these credits? I have been unable to find anything that hasn't been generated by Glines himself. Sorry, I don't mean to be unkind - but Mr. GLines is well known in the New York theatre community for telling tall tales - not the least of which has been that he "invented" the Sesame Street character Elmo. (something which is very OBVIOUSLY false) The fact that this article's creator (probably Glines) claims the contents have been "verified by John Glines himself" should lead all editors to take a skeptical view. Trust me! I know! KindSould 11:42, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's true, I provided the information regarding CAPTAIN KANGAROO and SESAME STREET. I suggest for verification someone contact Al Hyslop , the producer of both the CAPTAIN and SESAME STREET who hired me as a staff writer on both shows. Or perhaps you could get in touch with Luis Santeiro, who was hired as a writer of SESAME STREET the same time that I was & is still a writer on the show. One might also contact Children's Television Workshop, which may well have records of past staff writers. Sorry I don't have my Emmy nomination certificates, but they're on their way, along with other documents, to the Larry Krammer Initiative at Yale. John Glines.

If memory is acceptable, I remember the award-lined stairwell wall at John Glines home in Brooklyn Heights. My husband and I climbed those stairs many times and were always impressed that we were able to work with someone so gifted. I remember in particular the two framed Emmy Award Nominations. To turn to my personal association with John. He produced QUINTESSENTIAL IMAGE, a two-character play -- my first NY acting experience. That production was covered by 23 reviewers, including the NY Post. I was also the only female in John's own play, Key West. To question the integrity of this man who has done so much to bring excellent gay and lesbian theatre to New York is a shame. Of equal importance are the numeous actors who got their first chance with The Glines. Their list is impressive. I am honored to be on that list. 68.175.116.8 03:05, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Ruth Kulerman[reply]

It seems clear that KindSould is someone known to John and The Glines, by looking at the edit history of Kindsould; well known common people, places and events. The comments in the edit summaries from kindsould are not kind at all, and are not validated any more than the validation he/she is demanding. Is Kindsoud's intent to improve the quality and accuracy of this article, or to deface Mr. Glines? I would suggest taking the argument offline, and not continue vandalizing this page. -FourPtRoll

Can I ask everyone to sign their names using four ~~~~ please? This situation may be helped if sources could be provided for much of the article. Are there any out there, say for the emmy nominations? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 20:44, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Emmy Award nominations should be easily verifiable, yet a search of their extensive online archive [1] turns up no results for Glines name. Likewise, Glines is not included as a writer for Sesame Street in the show's IMBD credits, which go back to 1969 [2]. Nor is he included in the IMBD credits for Captain Kangaroo. [3] For the record, I have not vandalized this article. I am trying to establish the facts. The article, as written, appears to be heavily biased in favor of Glines. Most of the information is unsourced. Surely, a claim of 2 Emmy nominations should be verifiable. KindSould 21:21, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, I was a frequent visitor in John Gline's home in Brooklyn Heights and remember seeing framed certificates in the the stairway that I believe were Emmy nominations. Daaron 13:15, 10 March 2007 (UTC)Daaron[reply]

Is it necessary to have the information box around my photo as it only repeats information already in the bio?

Yes, that is standard practice. It lets people know the vitals in a glance. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 13:52, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could people please stop mobbing this page please?[edit]

Really, even if you have met John Glines and seen his emmy awards and know what fabulous man he is and how this one time he saved puppies from a burning house, this doesn't mean anything on Wikipedia. As we all know very well now, just trusting someone to be who they say they are is dangerous here, so listening to a bunch of IPs who could, quite literally, be anyone, both makes us look stupid and damages our credibility. Please stop swamping this page with personal testimonies, and go find reliable sources if you really want to help. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 10:47, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
