Bob Considine[edit]

I'm not sure about son Bob Considine, who is the only person mentioned for whom I lack a solid citation. John definitely had a son Bob; standard short bios of actors John and Tim Considine routinely mention him as their uncle. However, they often refer to him as a "sportscaster", so perhaps this is not the same Bob Considine / Robert Considine the newspaper columnist who wrote Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. We don't have an article on the latter, who clearly deserves one, and I haven't been able to sort this out. When someone writes that, we will need to sort this out, if not sooner. - Jmabel | Talk 03:40, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[1] says the Bob Considine in this family wrote The Babe Ruth Story. His IMDB page give his date and place of birth as "4 November 1906, Washington, District of Columbia, USA". The Find-A-Grave page on the Bob Considine who wrote Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo gives the same DOB. But someone might have been confused: these are not the strongest of sources. - Jmabel | Talk 03:46, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The identification of syndicated columnist Bob Considine as Tim Considine's uncle stems from one interview Tim gave back in 1957 to TV-Radio Mirror magazine. It's been picked up and repeated ad infinitum since then, but it isn't quite true. They are related, but are second or third cousins. Tim knew this, but because he was only sixteen when he gave that interview, he referred to the much elder Bob as an "uncle", out of respect. US Census records show that John W. Considine Sr and wife Elizabeth had two daughters, Florence (b 1893) and Ruth (b 1895), but only one son, John Jr (b 1898). The connection with Bob Considine goes back to County Clare, Ireland, from whence John Sr's father immigrated to Chicago during the mid-19th Century. Bob Considine's parents were James and Sophie Considine.Saratoga Sam (talk) 00:13, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
