Joel Houston[edit]

"...the key worship leader and producer of Sydney based worship band Hillsong United, the worship band of Hillsong Church's youth group, also known as Hillsong United. He is also worship leader at the Hillsong Church."

Huh??? Think this may need some clarification. PollyWaffler (talk) 11:59, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the page seems to be broken - I can only see one paragraph, but there's lots more in the code... Unclosed "ref" tag after Laura...? PollyWaffler (talk) 12:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Even if you are the subject of this article, please be advised that statements in Wikipedia articles need to be attributed to an independent reliable source (such as a news article, book, magazine, etc.), so if you could present one, the information will be quickly changed. If you have any questions, you can always ask me at User talk:Fetchcomms or contact our OTRS team at info-en-q@wikimedia.org. Thank you, fetch·comms 20:36, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notability tag (slow revert war)[edit]

Hello,

It seems that the notability tag has been removed by two different editors and has been added twice by Walter. Hopefully my latest removal with an explanation that it meets criterion 2 at Wikipedia:Notability (music) is sufficient. If not, being a part of at least two gold albums will help (criterion #3). Killiondude (talk) 21:10, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

They all take a backseat to WP:GNG and Houston does not have sufficient refs. He is one writer of a collaborative group. If you want to merge the subject's article into United's article, nothing would be lost. The group is notable, but no one has done extensive interviews with Houston. No one has granted individual awards to Houston. I'm sorry you don't understand. I will give you some time to reconsider and then I will revert if you elect not to. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:13, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Right. There are a few extensive interviews with him linked in the article. Have you looked at it? If you were going by the general notability guideline, only a few substantive sources are required, which seem to be included between the "References" and "External links" sections. There is a difference between claiming notability and providing references for it. The article has substantive claim to notability; please do not continue to add that tag. Your ultimatum is cute! Never change. Killiondude (talk) 21:20, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Right. They are a few references:
  1. Houston, Brian (14 April 2010). "Update #2: HILLSONG NEW YORK CITY". Retrieved 21 November 2011. - dead link
  2. Jones, Caroline (1 August 2005). "The Life of Brian - Transcript". Australian Story. Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Retrieved 19 May 2008. - Joel is addressed one. It's a story about the ministry, not Houston himself
  3. "Welcome to Twitter - Login or Sign up". twitter.com. Retrieved 6 March 2015. - primary source fails RS
  4. "Welcome to Twitter - Login or Sign up". twitter.com. Retrieved 6 March 2015. - primary source fails RS

  9. "He's on a musical mission for God". smh.com.au. Retrieved 6 March 2015. - about Houston
and several external links
  1. Christianity Today interview - pay wall
  2. "The Story Behind All of the Above" - Written by Joel Houston - dead link (written by Joel Houston implies primary source)
  3. SongDiscovery.com interviews Joel Houston [3], [4] - dead link
  4. A Passion for His Presence article at Beliefnet short section with Houston as the subject. He is discussed in one paragraph.
  5. Fresh 103.2 Interview - no access from where I am
  6. BBC Heart-throb rock gods united in song - no byline and Houston is only mentioned in one paragraph
  7. The Bulletin interview and photo gallery
  8. "CCLI SongSelect". us.songselect.com. Retrieved 5 February 2016. - no biographic information
  9. "WorshipTogether.com". WorshipTogether.com. Retrieved 5 February 2016. - interesting, but not sure it meets RS
Anything in particular since I don't see enough that helps the subject meet notability criteria? No awards. No hit songs. No extensive write-ups. So care to offer something credible instead of insinuating I'm lazy and have not done the homework (which I actually have) or that I understand WP:MUSICBIO (of which I'm an active member, discussing how the guideline should applied across multiple articles) or WP:GNG (which I have made reference to multiple times)?
