Manor Park... Technical or Secondary Modern?[edit]

It was my understanding that Manor Park was a Secondary Modern, but the article was changed to 'Secondary Technical' and having looked on oldschoolmates.co.uk, it looks like it was indeed a Technical school. Can anyone confirm the actual designation of Manor Park? BNC85 16:14, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

REPLY (TO THE ABOVE) ON 14th February 2013 . . .

I can confirm that the title / designation of Manor Park School (in 1962, the year after it opened) was Manor Park Technical Grammar School.

That was how it was shown in the letters my parents received that year, as we moved from one part of Newcastle to another, and my 'eligibility' (after my 11+ exam) changed from "John Marlay" (in West Newcastle) to "Manor Park" in East Newcastle.

If you look at the many links on the main page (to the six school magazines from 1962 to 1967 inclusive) the school tended to refer to itself as "Manor Park Technical School" only, leaving out the originally included word, "Grammar".

Hope this helps, and that you find the 'links' of interest.

Fair use rationale for Image:Heatonmanorlogo.gif[edit]

Image:Heatonmanorlogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Assessment[edit]

This is not yet a B class for WP Schools. You need some more content and most importantly some references to get the B class. Some pictures would help too. Dahliarose (talk) 23:29, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heaton Grammar School / Heaton High School[edit]

A change was made, but has been reverted, according to [1] and [2], it states that from 1928, the two schools were Heaton Grammar School for boys and Heaton High School for girls. It was only in September 1967 that they merged and became Heaton Secondary School. BNC85 (talk) 12:18, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notable alumni[edit]

The list of notable alumni (seen here) was recently removed due to lack of referencing. Some of these alumni, such as Jimmy Nail and Denis Tueart, are both notable and plausibly alumni of one of the schools discussed in this article. Efforts should be made to restore notable alumni accompanied by reliable sourcing. See WP:ALUMNI for guidelines. -- zzuuzz (talk) 13:59, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
