Notability?[edit]

Jehovah's Witnesses' activities in Cuba are not particularly notable (that is, it would be sufficient to merge into Religion in Cuba, forming less than 1% of the population. There are currently two very brief 'Jehovah's Witnesses in...' Wikipedia articles (Cuba and Norway), which seems like an extremely arbitrary selection. JW activities in either of those countries are not especially significant either in the scope of Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide, or of religion in those countries.--Jeffro77 (talk) 11:25, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Among the UN members states of the list of countries with the highest proportion of

Jehovah's Witnesses (publishers) Cuba occupies third place. (http://www.adherents.com/largecom/com_jw.html) Sarcelles (talk) 13:22, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Simple statistics do not automatically make JW activities in the country especially notable, and neither does a presence of 0.74% of the population. The statistics are already at Jehovah's Witnesses by country. This factoid is not sufficient to warrant a separate article.--Jeffro77 (talk) 13:48, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nearly 1 % of a nation of millions is important enough. Sarcelles (talk) 14:15, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Your suggestion that "nearly 1% ... is important enough" is entirely subjective, and thus far not supported by any other editors. The content of the article prior to redirection—a smattering of statistics from a JW report and some brief history on government opposition cited mainly from JW publications—is demonstrative of the fact that it is not of sufficient notability. For an example of a country-specific article that is based on a sufficient level of third-party sources, see Jehovah's Witnesses Association of Romania.--Jeffro77 (talk) 12:48, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing in the pre-direct version of this article that is not adequately covered at Jehovah's Witnesses by country and Persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses#Cuba. Any additional information can be merged into either Persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses#Cuba or Religion in Cuba as relevant.--Jeffro77 (talk) 14:42, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
