LGBT?[edit]

on one hand he's cathegorized under "LGBT people from France", on the other hand the article misses any mention of that? (131.130.121.106 10:30, 4 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:JeanPaulGaultier.jpg[edit]

Image:JeanPaulGaultier.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:21, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling?[edit]

According to Gualtier's official website, his name spells Jean Paul, and not Jean-Paul... What about removing that hyphen? Both from the article content, and from the article name? /Victor-Y (talk) 16:38, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that official web site is enough to do it. --Čikić Dragan (talk) 17:21, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eurovision 2008[edit]

Just wondering if it would be notable to mention that he was the French commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008? Ixistant (talk) 21:28, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brooklyn Museum Exhibit[edit]

This was added because of its status as a major retrospective (covered in the New York Times, Women's Wear Daily, and a range of other media sources. If anyone checks today (10/24) and questions the use of the past tense "opened" for an exhibit with a 10/25 date for the general public, I used the past tense because it has already opened to press and, as of today, members and other guests as part of the official opening gala. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fashionethics (talkcontribs) 15:39, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gaultier's sexual orientation[edit]

What is it? Is he gay or straight? Is he married? Fletcherbrian (talk) 00:23, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A Google search indicates he's married. The link to this info is blocked by Wikipedia. Fletcherbrian (talk) 14:15, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gaultier is gay, according to this interview, but it also suggests he is quite sexually ambiguous. Mabalu (talk) 18:01, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Quite sexually ambiguous"? I looked at your link in which it is stated: "Gaultier discusses his long-time lover and business partner, Francis Menuge, who died of AIDS in 1990." In the past, at least, Gaultier was unambiguously gay.

The fact that he may be married now makes little difference to his gayness or otherwise: gay marriage has been legal in France since 18th May 2013. Fletcherbrian (talk) 19:10, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

By "sexually ambiguous" I mean that it is perfectly possible that someone may not identify wholeheartedly as gay, bisexual or indeed any specific sexuality, although to an outsider, the application of such a label may be unambiguous. What is clear is that he is certainly a man who has relationships with men. Mabalu (talk) 00:10, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. In my view you are using an abstruse argument that something is not what it appears to be. Where might you have heard that before?

Take a look at Wikipedia's duck test. In it you will read that the duck test "is sometimes used to counter abstruse arguments that something is not what it appears to be".

You may counter that Gaultier may now be bisexual, or totally heterosexual. That is true. But I have no information to support that view. I think perhaps you don't either.Fletcherbrian (talk) 00:47, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
