Birthdate[edit]

Jean Louisa Kelly's birthdate is publicly available at a number of websites, including IMDB, which is an official website that is properly sourced. She was born on March 9, 1972. Please stop changing the year and removing the reference... which, BTW, is including in the "external links" section at the bottom of the page. 156.68.99.218 (talk) 14:33, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for starting a discussion.
Wikipedia requires reliable sources for all information, and high-quality ones for biographical information.
IMDB is not reliable.
WP:RSP and WP:RSN are helpful in determining if a source is reliable. --Hipal (talk) 15:42, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
IMDB is a reliable source. Show me where Wikipedia says otherwise. 156.68.99.218 (talk) 20:02, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I linked the article when I wrote that it was not reliable. --Hipal (talk) 20:07, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No. Where does it specifically mention IMDB, which is a trustworthy, verified web database? 156.68.99.218 (talk) 20:11, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I linked to the WP:RSP entry. If it doesn't work for you, just open WP:RSP and search for IMDB. --Hipal (talk) 22:54, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I put in a reference from encyclopedia.com and from Turner Classic Movies, both of which are reliable. Stop the games. 156.68.99.218 (talk) 20:13, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
She turned 50 in 2022. Being born in March, that means her birthdate is in 1972, so stop with the 1971 approximation. https://www.worcestermag.com/story/entertainment/columns/2022/06/07/boylston-native-jean-louisa-kelly-takes-icemans-breath-away-top-gun-maverick/7485797001/ 156.68.99.218 (talk) 20:36, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the usable references.
Please don't remove references with dead links per Wikipedia:Link rot. I've restored it and found an archived copy which I've linked. --Hipal (talk) 22:51, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
you could have done the same, instead of putting in arbitrary dates like "1971-1972". That does not help and is untruthful. People are only born in a single year. 156.68.99.218 (talk) 02:09, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't put in arbitrary dates, I only reverted problematic edits. Please retract your statement and review WP:CIVIL. --Hipal (talk) 17:09, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing I said was uncivil. Stop the games. You put in arbitrary dates ("1971-1972"). No one is born between two years. 173.66.69.51 (talk) 02:35, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please drop it. --Hipal (talk) 04:00, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
YOU drop it. WP:CIVIL 156.68.219.206 (talk) 20:12, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Her birth date is now properly referenced, so we're done here. --Hipal (talk) 20:28, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

yep. we've been done a while... I fixed arbitrary dates. 156.68.219.206 (talk) 21:38, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Non-notable minors[edit]

Regarding the names and birth years of her children. As far as I understand the general consensus, especially as discussed at WP:BLPN, this information should not be included per WP:BLP, especially WP:BLPNAME and WP:BLPPRIVACY. This is especially important given they are minors that one is a minor; edited 02:29, 10 June 2023 (UTC)

Regarding the edit-warring over this information: The requirements of BLP are very clear, Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—must be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion. Users who persistently or egregiously violate this policy may be blocked from editing....The burden of evidence rests with the editor who adds or restores the material. - Hipal (talk) 20:40, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

= Sean (born in 2003) is 20 156.68.219.206 (talk) 21:39, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
and yet, you allow a reference to Jennifer Garner's minor daughter, by name. Oh, the irony. 156.68.219.206 (talk) 21:41, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not allowing it here, because of the policy mentioned. As there's no policy-based argument at all for inclusion, let alone one that's been accepted, the material stays out. Users who persistently or egregiously violate this policy may be blocked from editing. --Hipal (talk) 02:27, 10 June 2023 (UTC) (Revised --Hipal (talk) 19:18, 14 June 2023 (UTC))[reply]
I suggest this be solved without edit warring. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 02:31, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks!
I've requested a third opinion. --Hipal (talk) 15:52, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Response to third opinion request:
I agree with Hipal that the inclusion of this information goes against the policies they have cited, and as a result would support the removal of this information. Further, this information is not necessarily helpful to stay on-topic with the subject of the article; the subject is Kelly - not her children. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 16:09, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And Jennifer Garner's daughter's name has no business being in this article at all. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 19:37, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Exact date of marriage[edit]

Such details are generally not included, and I don't recall any discussions on the matter. If someone can find one that's favorable to including such details, please link it here so we can decide if we should do the same. --Hipal (talk) 21:57, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
