GA Sweeps: On hold[edit]

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing Sweeps to determine if the article should remain a Good article. I went through the article and made various changes, please look them over. I believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. However, in reviewing the article, I have found there are several issues that needs to be addressed.

  1. The lead needs to be expanded to better summarize the article. Touch on all of the different sections; see WP:LEAD for guidelines.
  2. "Born as born Jean Marie Hodgdon in Aitkin County, Minnesota, Keene was a trick rider in a traveling rodeo in the 1950s, until a riding accident cut short her rodeo career." Reword the first part of the sentence and remove the bold font. A citation is needed for the last half of the sentence.
  3. "She moved to Alaska in 1977..." When starting a new section, it's best to start with the last name of the person instead of a pronoun. Some readers may skip right to this section from the table of contents or from another article and may not know who is being referred to.
  4. The "Alaska" section is unsourced.
  5. "She currently gets food trucked in by donors, and feeds hundreds of eagles up to 500 pounds of fish a day." Since she died, is she still getting food trucked in by donors?
  6. It seems the layout is disorganized. It goes from early years, to Alaska, then back to early life.
  7. "Keene fed them an estimated 500 pounds of fish per day, about 50,000 pounds per year." The metric conversion should be added. Fix any other occurrences in the article.
  8. "People could come and watch the eagles Keene feeds on the Spit at no cost, but were asked to stay in their cars for their own safety and for the safety of the eagles." Single sentence shouldn't stand alone. To improve the flow of the article, either expand on the sentence or incorporate it into another paragraph.
  9. The external link needs to be removed from the "Death" section and converted to an inline citation.
  10. There are several dabs that need to be fixed.

I will leave the article on hold for seven days, but if progress is being made and an extension is needed, one may be given. If no progress is made, the article may be delisted, which can then later be renominated at WP:GAN. I'll contact all of the main contributors and related WikiProjects so the workload can be shared. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 22:47, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I was thinking that maybe the second picture of eagles should go, as it is obviously taken in the same exact spot as the first picture, there a just fewer eagles in the frame. I'll see what I can do about the other issues you've identified. Beeblebrox (talk) 06:08, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to say that they seemed to be very similar and that only one was needed. Before removing one, they should be moved to Commons if you have an account. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 06:37, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done Except I couldn't find a logical target for foreman so I de-linked it, as I think it's a fairly common word anyway. Beeblebrox (talk) 08:06, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Sweeps: Kept[edit]

Superb job addressing the issues so quickly. I believe the article currently meets the criteria and should remain listed as a Good Article. Altogether the article is well-written and has a great source of free images. I went through the article and made a few changes, please look them over. Continue to improve the article making sure all new information is properly sourced and neutral. It would be beneficial to update the access dates for all of the online sources. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I have updated the article history to reflect this review. --Happy editing!
