Pronunciation?[edit]

pronunciation?

Yeah - I've altered this. It should rhyme with, say 'grenouille' - but even quite bright & well informed anglophone speakers frequently mispronounce it and make the end sound as though its 'oui' as in 'non'. Cooke (talk) 20:32, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, in the IPA translation on the name of Jean Anouilh, we see [anuje] (with the e upside down). That e upside down sound is not pronounced in french -in that case-, it should be written just [anuj]. I'm a native french speaker with a minor in linguistics, so my advice may be considered as plausible. Sorry for the bad english :)

There is a Youtube video (to Pronounce Jean Anouilh) that pronounces: “Jean” with one syllable, and “Anouilh” with three syllables, with a stress on the middle “noo”. Somewhat like: “zhahn-a-NOO-ee”. DagSkaal (talk) 18:16, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Eurydice?[edit]

Under works in this article, there is a link to the Eurydice (play) article. However, the article is about the Sara Ruhl play by that name and not the Anouilh play by that name. Should the link be removed, should an article be made to replace it, or what? RumiRumiRumiRumi (talk) 11:39, 19 December 2009 (PST)

Working on Major edits[edit]

I've begun a significant overhaul of this page, adding a lot of information and contextualizing what was already here. Ive pretty much kept what was present, though I corrected a few very minor errors and added references. I've changed the structure just slightly, adding a few sub-categories. I will continue to make additions over the next few days, but welcome input or collaboration from the community, especially with proofreading and in the Critical Discussion section, which has had the least of my attention so far. I will update again here when I'm finished or if I run into any road blocks. Feel free to contact me with concerns or complaints.ÇaCestCharabia (talk) 00:49, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Military Service while working for theatre companies?[edit]

Is there any clarification on the nature of Anouilh's conscription or its duration as it seems to contradict him beginning to work for theatre companies and putting on his shows? Cheese1223 (talk) 02:15, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
