Notability[edit]

Just to confirm after fan-edits that this person did not have sufficient coverage in reliable independent sources to satisfy the various aspects that Wikipedia Notability allows for. WP:NOTMEMORIAL is the main criterion; it is possible that hard-copy coverage could exist that are not found by seach engines.

Other examples of fan-articles for deceased riders failing notability are Paul Dobbs, Billy Redmayne and Dean Berta Viñales.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 01:09, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Rocknrollmancer: At the lead of this page Wikipedia:Notability (sports), it was stated that The article should provide reliable sources showing that the subject meets the general notability guideline or the sport specific criteria set forth below.. Notice the emphasis of the word "or". Your argument that it does not have sufficient coverage. That could be true, but notice what I quoted earlier. It only says the article should pass WP:GNG or pass a specific criteria specified in the article. It may have not passed WP:GNG, but it may pass any criteria listed on the article. And indeed, this article passes notability per WP:NMOTORSPORT, number 3: Competed in a series or race of worldwide or national interest. I think it is agreed that Moto3 is of worldwide interest, thus there is no need for the notability tag. If you could also notice, your notability tag you added says that The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guideline for sports and athletics. But, in reality, it actually passes per what I have said above. The article does not have to pass both WP:GNG and a specific sports criteria. I think you have just misunderstood. Engr. I can't think of any other tag that would encourage other references; if more footnotes/references was added, it would be removed due to the amount of refs already present (all around the same publication date). Taken off.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 01:57, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
