Name of article?[edit]

When McGregor joined the Nation of Islam, he took the name of James 3X. I notice that for articles like Betty X, we call the article by the NOI-name. Anyone know whether there is a general policy? I will go look. Novellasyes (talk) 17:19, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Novellasyes: I think you should look at the article titles criteria. It says titles should be Recognizable, Natural, Precise, Concise, and Consistent. In the case of Betty X, wife of Malcolm X, she is better known as Betty Shabazz, which is the name the Wikipedia article about her appears under. Malcolm X himself explains that the "X" is merely a symbol because he did not know his African family name and rejected the family name given to his family by his family's white slavemasters, though he also used the surname Shabazz for a similar reason. The subject of this article appears to have also adopted this surname as an alias, but the article does not explain further. The question is, which name is he best and most recognizably known by in the reliable sources? - Cameron Dewe (talk) 05:55, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
