Grandchildren and Tone[edit]

I removed a "tone" template from this article today as no explanation was given here in the talk page as to why the template had been put on.

I also removed this info about his surviving grandchildren as they are not public figures and the info is not encyclopedic, i.e., usually limited to parents, spouses, and children unless there are other relatives who are public figures: "and two grandchildren, JaClea Orange, 10 and Brandon James Orange, 8." and "He also leaves two brothers, Calvin Orange, Jr. and Wade Orange, and two sisters Joyce Nelson and Marion Easley." Although this info is appropriate for a death notice or obit, unless his siblings were or are prominent figures, their names are generally not included.

This info, as well as other bio detail, appears to have been added by a family member or close associate who is a new Wikipedian. I left a note on their talk page asking for citations and explaining the WP:OR and WP:V policies. However, I left in the length of his marriage, Orange's birthdate (which can be confirmed in a month from the Social Security Death Index) and his daughter's full name and date of death (which also can be confirmed via the SSDI but hasn't been yet), and although references in print disagree about being 6'5" or 6'3.5" inches, as the editor chose the latter, I've rewritten the line to go with the shorter height, assuming they know in person (but still wondering if he was 6'5" when younger). I regret it, but I had to remove the names of his sisters from the middle of his quote about his mother, since the sisters' names (Joyce and Marion) are not in the published version of the quote. Football?[edit]

In reading the opinion of State v. Orange, 206 22 N.C. App. 220 (1974), I noticed that Orange is described as "a former professional football player who was 30 years old, weighed 368 pounds, and was six feet three inches tall," but I cannot find any other sources that mention a football career. Is this an error in the court document or did Orange play professional football at one point? --LaSombrerera (talk) 18:29, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
