This page looks like a copyvio from somewhere...can someone check for me? --69.117.7.63 18:30, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(old 2)[edit]

The article states that Mr. Marshall’s untimely death was due to a brain tumor. This is misleading as Mr. Marshall was in reality one of the many artists lost to AIDS. Mr. Marshall was discrete about his gayness with his family (but not ashamed of it.) Is it time to amend this article with the correct information on this important author/illustrator?

Edward and James Marshall[edit]

Did he write as "Edward" and illustrate as "James" the same books, eg the Fox series? If so, that should be stated clearly. --P64 (talk) 19:13, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Our list shows that he wrote as Edward *only* when he also illustrated as James. Today I added a statement of that apparent fact to the lead.
Template {{Authority control}} supposedly provides unique identifiers and it should appear only once in any article. Here it is completed for both:

Edward, James

I retained James alone in the article but I see that GND=110583051 is more informative because it covers five Fox books written as Edward [and one incomplete Fox series entry] which seem to be his only works catalogued by the German national library.

Vandalism?[edit]

Near the end of a revision to cover more adequately the posthumous Wilder Award and lack of contemporary recognition, I noticed that this was tacked onto the lead during April --no reference, repetitive wording.

(quote) "He was also homosexual and his husband Billy Murky died at the ending of the George and Martha series of picture books."

was not possible to undo automatically so I deleted it manually and tacked "apparent vandalism" onto the end of the edit summary.
