James Barry (surgeon)[edit]

James Barry had a sibling, born c. 1789, who became a military surgeon in the British Army, and who also assumed the name "James", and was notable because of having assumed male garb in order to enroll in university, acquire a medical degree, and serve as a surgeon in the Army, and occupation restricted to men. It's not clear if James Barry (surgeon) should be mentioned in this article specifically; for the time being, I've added a link in the #See also section.
