Merge into SKY Perfect JSAT Group?[edit]

Merge into SKY Perfect JSAT Group then change this page to redirect there? crandles (talk) 22:33, 10 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Consider merging SKY PerfecTV! too. — JFG talk 22:28, 10 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No. The merged company, SKY Perfect JSAT Group, is a conglomerate with many divisions. I believe that there are two possible ways of doing this. First, leave this page for the company, and state that it is now part of a larger company and is just a division. Or a different approach would be to leave this page up to the moment of its merger, as an historical note, and move all the satellite constellation to a JSAT (satellite constellation). I think I would prefer the latter, any of those two seem more appropriate than just merging this particular division into the conglomerate page. — Baldusi (talk) 14:08, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Comment@@Baldusi: Good work adding longer list of satellites to this page. Perhaps if this is completed and also merge SKY PerfecTV! into SKY Perfect JSAT Group then that page might become too long and want splitting back again? crandles (talk) 12:26, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No No no, absolutely not. I think it is a form of WP:RECENTISM to destroy (bury) history just because a corporation merges. An example of a good precedent for this is the American company North American Aviation, which had a long and illustrious history before it was merged into Rockwell International. Notice we maintain the two separate pages. JustinTime55 (talk) 16:32, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Separate the satellite network from the company.[edit]

I propose to separate this article in two. Since JSAT Corporation has merged and acquired so many times, I would simply leave just the corporate history of the company up to the liquidation on 2008. Then I would separate all the information regarding the satellite fleet, into JSAT (satellite constellation). It would basically include everything that I've been writing from JSAT Corporation#Space Communications Corporation downwards. I would include a new section on the core JSAT network (which includes a bit of history of Japan Communications Satellite Company and Satellite Japan Corporation and its merge into Japan Satellite Systems Inc.) but in the same style of the other networks I will focus on the satellites histories. I will probably add a section regarding the ground control section. — Baldusi (talk) 17:09, 3 August 2016 (UTC) @@JFG, C-randles, N2e, and Sdsds: Do you want to give your opinion? 13:47, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I just vote to make it clear that this is intended to be a proposal. Any comments to amend or improve the proposal are welcome. — Baldusi (talk) 17:09, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Support – I just updated the launch of JCSAT-16 in both places. I was going to suggest removing the fleet from this page, but seeing your proposal I'd rather let you proceed as you planned. — JFG talk 12:49, 14 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Given the lack of objections and a single support, I went ahead and transformed this article on the corporate entity. I believe this can be left as an historical record and the fleet article can be updated as needed. I might have made some mistakes consolidating the history section and grammar could use some editing, so please give it an overview. After we go and comb it nice, it will probably see very little editing. I'm now moving to reviewing whatever links here for consistency. – Baldusi (talk) 14:21, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup required[edit]

This article needs some attention for English grammar and WP:words to watch.

It would also be nice if it had a company history section to make clear when it started, and when the names changed for mergers, though I suppose this is partially covered in the "Satellite fleets" subsections. JustinTime55 (talk) 18:23, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've just created the JSAT (satellite constellation) article. I would just delete everything under the SKY Perfect JSAT Group merger in the JCSAT, and leave a stub regarding the JSAT constellation. Or, I could copy the satellite list as it was in 2008, and leave it as that for historical record. What do you think? – Baldusi (talk) 23:06, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
