Some Corrections[edit]

I corrected some info in the article: Corsica was annexed to France on 15 May 1768 with the Treaty of Versailles, not in 1770. The Corsican language has two main varieties: the northern one, close to Tuscan, and the southern one, which could better keep its original characters (G. Devoto, "Il Linguaggio d'Italia"; see also G. Bertoni, "Italia dialettale"). Moreover, Italian was spoken in the whole county of Nice (except maybe in the northwest), and not only "around Nice". Language[edit]

The Corsican language has two main varieties. A northern one, near Tuscan, a southern one nearer to Sardinian. The sources are quite solid: Giacomo Devoto is possibly the most important Italian linguist of the 20th century. It would be good to discuss here (or on Talk:Corsican language) other sources. Corsicans[edit]

Today's Corsicans, like Laetitia (NOT Letizia) Casta, are not Italian. They were in the past, but after 250 years with France they are not anymore. If one can find Reliable Sources which proof the Italian ethnicity, he/she is welcome to bring them here. Alex2006 (talk) 15:24, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Italian identity is mainly a cultural one (you can read the first volume of the "Storia d'Italia" edited by Einaudi about that), and has nothing to do with ancestors, DNA, etc. . Scope of this article are the Italians who moved from Italy and emigrated to France, or siblings of Italians born in France. In both case there is still a strong tie with Italy. This is for sure not the case for Casta. Alex2006 (talk) 17:53, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
