Fair use rationale for Image:ISA Logo.jpg[edit]

Image:ISA Logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. What is going on with Chaim Eshed?(!)[edit]

Chaim Eshed (חיים אשד) is the co-founder of the Israeli space program (https://airandspace.si.edu/support/wall-of-honor/dr-chaim-eshed). Nothing yet in the English-language press, but this is what I gathered from Hebrew ones. Today, Israel's largest daily paper, Yedioth Ahronoth Saturday's print edition (its most popular edition) called 7 Days, published an interview with him (sorry, paywall: https://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-5854294,00.html). In it, he reveals the following:

  1. Aliens walk among us. Trump was on the verge of revealing this, but ended up thinking better of it.
  2. There is a "Galactic Federation." These aliens wish for their existence to remain secret, for now, because "humanity is not ready."
  3. There is a compact between the US government and the aliens. There is an underground base on Mars, where US astronauts work alongside the aliens.

Eshed writes: "If I were to come out with this five years ago, I would be institionalized. Anywhere in academia I had went with this, they said: he is out of his mind. Today, they say different. I have nothing to lose. I have gotten all the degrees and awards, am respected in foreign universities, and even there, the paradigm is shifting." Anyway, I thought this was of interest. →I noticed in passing Tal Inbar of the Hebrew Wikipedia mention that he has known Eshed for over 25 years (Inbar is the former head of the Fisher Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies and is chairman of the Israeli Space Society). Slatersteven, it's interesting you bring up his education because there was actually quite a spirited debate on the Hebrew Wikipedia about the extent to which he has the sort of formal education one would usually expect to go along with, as the National Air and Space Museum page I link to in my opening notes, a "Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics." The consensus seems to be that he may not even have a graduate degree, not to mention a PhD... As for having a page about him here on the English Wikipedia (which I may or may not author sometime in the future), the question naturally arises as to the prominence that is to be given in his bio to the aliens bit. His Hebrew Wikipedia page, for example (which is not brief), devotes exactly one sentence to this, whose translation is as follows: On December 2020, Eshed claimed in an interview to Yedioth Ahronoth that aliens have made contact with humanity, but had requested to still not make this public. Yes, I read the Hebrew Wikipedia article (thank you, Google translation) but while his contributions to the Israel space program 40-50 years ago were important, I'm not sure he has enough notability for a bio here...unless this alien business takes off in conspiracy circles. Considering his previous reputation, it would be a shame if that's how he is remembered. Interesting to hear what Israeli space official think about all this. Liz Read! Hmm. I actually do not share your hesitancy, Liz. I do think he's notable enough for the English Wikipedia, at the very least in so far as he is the former head of the Israeli space program. Granted, as this article notes: Israel is the smallest country with indigenous launch capabilities, and is the smallest country to have a space program. That said, it is a program for which not insignificant resources are expended and not insignificant technological outcomes are reached. El_C 04:38, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
