Review[edit]

Good! I did some copyediting and left a few templates. Next steps could include an:

  • infobox
  • consistent naming of Ipsy and mention stylized name in lead.
  • a more encyclopedic tone: fix things like "The idea for Ipsy came to Phan".
  • the founder section seems long; could some of this be moved to her bio?
  • categories
  • maybe a logo (?)
  • clarifying prose
  • make sure it's not a Wikipedia:Orphan

Hi Reagle,

Going off of your last edits, I made changes to all of the following except an infobox and logo which will be completed later. Otherwise, I have made sure my page is not an oprhan, did constant naming, fixed informal tone, and broke up the founder section into a bio. Thank you for these edits. My page has also been moved outside of my sandbox. I have reached out to fellow wikipedians for feedback as a newcomer to the society. Hopefully this time around we have fixed up the issues that deal with promotional aspects as well as other issues are NPOV as this is not a paid wikipedia page. Two questions I had for you reguarding your last edits, what do you mean when you said to add "categories" and "clarifying a prose"? One other question I had is that I noticed as of recent there is now another new page for ipsy created by another user after I had already started my project. Do you have any guidance on how I should handle this or should I continue to develop my page? Sperry21 (talk) 17:02, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Reviews[edit]

Hi!

I edited for vagueness and corrected Phan's name in the last paragraph. I tried to make the language more precise and clear in the beginning of the article specifically. This seems like a great service and I appreciated learning about it. -EH9890 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:46, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sara! Thought you did a great job with this. I wanted to go over the few changes I made and some suggestions. In the About section, I changed the word box to service. I changed the second to last sentence in this section to make it less repetitive. I changed and to or in the next sentence, and "coloring" to "color options" to make it more clear. In the History section, I changed "some of their" to "featured in its global product videos" to make it more concise and more direct. And I changed "that was produced for" to "she made on" cause it seemed like a passive sentence. As for suggestions...As Professor Reagle mentioned in his comments, I think you could benefit from utilizing a more encyclopedic tone. For example, in the Ipsy and L'Oreal section, I thought maybe you could change "did not last long" to how long exactly it was on the market for. It might be nice to include a logo or a photo of what the box looks like, maybe even Michelle Phan. But otherwise, I thought you did an awesome job. Thanks for letting me review! Hi Sara, I really liked this page, a lot of stuff looked great and you did a great job editing out a lot of the promotional material you previously had. I did a few copyedits that you will see, just minor spelling and grammar fixes. I agree with Professor Reagle and think you would definitely improve your page by putting in an infobox, I have a template that I found that I would be happy to share with you. I would also recommend that you link to your article from other pages so it is not an orphan, maybe a page on subscription boxes? Or a beauty product's page that has a relevant connection to Ipsy. I agree with Marina and would also like to see a photo on your page, I think it would be great to add one of a sample box so people can see what comes in them but be careful to not make this part overly promotional. Overall great article, I enjoyed reading it! Sabbatessa (talk) 23:56, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Official creators[edit]

I would consider adding more to the meaning of "official creators," because it is slightly confusing as to the difference between that and the founders. What is the distinction there? To tackle the issue of finding other sources, maybe look in the news section of Google and find other subscriptions like Sephora play, Birchbox and FabFitFun to compare and contrast in some way. I know that Ipsy has deals with certain brands like Urban Decay, Colourpop and indie makeup brands that you can incorporate the info of so you can link into your article. The article is also currently orphan so I would look up pages on Wikipedia that links to your page.

Damn it![edit]

The student who moved the article to mainspace gave it the name Ipsy (company) because there was an already an article at Ipsy that was created here on March 30. The Ipsy (company) article was moved to mainspace in this diff on April 4. Now we have to deal with history merging and a bunch of administrative garbage. Argh. Just argh. resolved by Godsy as described here. Jytdog (talk) 07:10, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This really needs to be updated and verified[edit]

the description is written like an advertisement, presumably by staff of Ipsy. It also appears to have been vandalized over a year ago. The company is called, Personalized Beauty Discovery, not Kippy. No idea why or what that is. Sakurasunset (talk) 02:01, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Taking my money[edit]

So now im paying and not receiving. How do i cancel? . I have no other phone number. 38.137.107.62 (talk) 11:55, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
