Rush to speedy deletion[edit]

Having inspected both this article and the “about us” page on the International Science Council (ISC) website, I don’t believe that this article infringes copyright. It takes content from the ISC page and rewrites this content in its own words, just as is to be expected. The article also includes useful additional information that is not included on the ISC page. The article does quote the ISC page verbatim when it comes to the ISC’s stated mission, but surely that is to be expected as well, and the quote is attributed to the ISC page. If someone believes this article infringes copyright, he or she should identify the problematic passages. I’m sure they could be fixed almost effortlessly. Merger Discussion[edit]

@Intforce and Fgnievinski: As the lead section of the International Science Council article states, in July 2018 the International Council of Science and the International Social Science Council merged to form the International Science Council. When organizations merge, they do not cease to exist; they continue to exist as the merged organization. The pre-merger history of the constituent organizations becomes the history of the merged organization. The same thing should happen with Wikipedia's articles about the constituent organizations: the content that continues to be relevant to the merged organization should be merged into the article about merged organization. When the process is complete, the article about each constituent organization should become a redirect to the article about the merged organization. I welcome your help in moving content from the articles about each constituent organization to the International Science Council article.—Finell 20:51, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose, on the grounds that readers are best served by keeping the pages separate. International Council for Science has about 90 years of independent history, which is best covered separately from the new joint entity. My view is that none of the WP:MERGEREASONs hold (sufficiently ...). Klbrain (talk) 21:01, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Closing, given the uncontested objection and no support. Klbrain (talk) 16:39, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
