"Girl Child" should be changed to "Girl"[edit]

just a suggestion, the title of this page "Girl Child" should be changed to "Girl" ...not only would it sound less goofy but it would correspond to the url...try it out on your friends, tell them about "International Day of the Girl Child" and they'll stare at you. "Girl Child" sounds archaic, non-standard.Ericmachmer (talk) 14:47, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"International Day of the Girl Child" is the official name given by the UN to the observance.[1] There's a redirect to this page from "International Day of the Girl". OttawaAC (talk) 20:43, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Plan International is the organization that pushed for the International Day of the Girl Child to be declared. And on their website, they list October 11, 2012 (and not 2011) as the first International Day of the Girl Child. http://plan-international.org/about-plan/resources/news/october-11-is-day-of-the-girl/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.163.63.113 (talk) 09:39, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
