Creation of the flag[edit]

According to the memoirs of Avraham Adan, the flag was not created on the spot like it says in the article. Instead, Nahum Sarig's secretary gave it to him (a white sheet with a Star of David) and the soldiers drew the ink. This was done in Sdeh Avraham (next to where Uvda Airport is today) and not in Eilat itself. —Ynhockey ^(Talk) 19:12, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The star from the flag was provided by Yehezkel Tancman who was the medic of the Negev brigade. He took the star from the cover to his standard issue first aid kit. The dye was made from medical grade iodine which was also sourced from his first aid kit. This is the reason the flag is known as the "ink" flag and not the "paint" flag. Yehezkel is featured in the famous picture, although his face is obscured. The facts[edit]

Confirmed by a friend who was in the tank recovery unit and witnessed the whole process. [[1]] The secretary of the brigade, named Pua'ah Er'el, took a white sheet and by using ink she draw the flag that was lifted up by the company commander Abraham Adan (Bren). Pua'ah drew two ink stripes, and sewed on a Magen David torn off a first-aid kit. Bren went on to become a famed General and died Sept 2012. Incidentally, the Israeli flag does have a 6 point star on it, but the official name of the insignia is Magen David, Shield of David. King David reputedly had this star on his shield, but if the insignia was called "Star of David" it would be "Kockha David" not Magen David. What source is this information based on? If it's based on the online source provided, then I don't think we should given significant weight to the information as it does not appear to be a reliable source and makes a couple embarrassing mistakes in any case. Delete “reconstruction”[edit]

Call me bold, I removed the dubious “reconstruction” flag, which is simply a digital image. Besides, it looks nothing like the flag in the photo or as described. Specifically the Star of David sewn on it from a First-Aid kit. Artificial Nagger (talk) 03:15, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
