Timeline[edit]

Jollibinay, you keep on reinserting this silly timeline--silly because the lineup of this group is completely straightforward and uncomplicated. Moreover, there is no requirement that we have such timelines, and if they don't add anything, they're just coloring. And speaking of coloring, I have no doubt that these colors fail accessibility standards per WP:COLOR; the red/green, for instance, is probably inaccessible for those with Red/green color blindness. I'm going to leave a note at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Accessibility and on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rock music as well. Drmies (talk) 15:27, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed it. Four members and only one change. This does not need visualization. The widths were all wrong as well. The suggestion is for the major line to be an odd number, usually 11 pixels, and small lines to be an odd number, usually 3, 5 and 7 pixels depending on number. 2.7 just causes rendering problems. It was also a violation of MOS:LAYOUT when it created a short section in the members area. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:28, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Also, timelines created with the EasyTimeline extension, as this one was, don't work at all with screen readers. Graham87 04:44, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Drmies, Walter Görlitz, Graham87 I stand corrected. No need for foul language. I checked the Wikipedia articles of bands with uncomplicated lineups like The Script, Two Door Cinema Club, A-ha, and Tokio Hotel and noticed that they did not use timelines. However, for the record, I did not create the timeline for IV of Spades but I did edit it, and I decided to keep it. As for the coloring, many band articles use those colors for their timelines and it was even discussed in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Musicians/Archive 8#Create Member Section/Timeline Standards. However, for the sake of accessibility, I suggest you bring it up with the WikiProjects concerned or the Wikipedia community in general. Nonetheless, I will still continue to edit the content of this article. Till then.

P.S. Drmies thank you for having this article semi-protected. Jollibinay (talk) 11:05, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Jollibinay, I'm glad this is settled. Don't know what foul language you mean, BTW. As for the semi-protection, there was significant vandalism, as I'm sure you saw. The big issue besides the usefulness is accessibility, of course, and if something isn't accessible we shouldn't doing it. Graham, does the very inaccessibility of something not mean we should discourage it? (And I'm not just asking cause I hate timelines in general, haha.) Walter Görlitz, thanks for weighing in--you do music, is this something that should be discussed there somewhere? Is it in the article guidelines for music-related articles? The MOS? I'd like to know for next time. Thanks all, Drmies (talk) 13:28, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
