merge[edit]

This page was started by User:Drmies three years ago as an attempt to improve on Metre (hymn), for some reason as a competing article rather than in userspace… and then just left there. In executing the merge I'll happily cede to Drmies' or other opinions as to which one, or which parts of each, should prevail, but we should finish this somehow. 4pq1injbok (talk) 20:19, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, Metre (hymn) is inscrutable to me. The title suggests it's going to be about the use of meter in hymns, but who knows. "In the English language poetic metres and hymn metres have different starting points but there is nevertheless much overlap" is just meaningless, beginning with the odd specification of "In the English language" (this isn't about the use of a term in English), and what does "starting points" mean? So what I wrote is something that's actually based on sources and has a tangible meaning--albeit something unfinished. Drmies (talk) 21:19, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think that this page should be moved to userspace or draftspace, and replace the content of Metre (hymn) when it is ready. --MtPenguinMonster (talk) 08:16, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We can't have two separate articles on the same topic. I've taken the bold decision of redirecting this namespace to Metre (hymn) and copying over one sentence. --Hazhk (talk) 14:24, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
