"Cronyn was the first Elmwood School boarder"[edit]

Incorrect. That's a girls' school in Ottawa. Masalai (talk)]]

Marriage to Emily Woodruff[edit]

I think I'm missing something here: "Cronyn's first marriage was to the philanthropist Emily Woodruff in late 1934 or early 1935. They shared a "lavender marriage," and never lived together. Woodruff insisted that the marriage remain a secret because of her lesbian relationships."

From the "lavender marriage" article, it seems like the point of such a marriage is to advertise socially that one is married, thus "not gay", whilst still having one's own private life as one sees fit; with Woodruff keeping the marriage secret, how could it have served this purpose? Since it couldn't- being secret, and the two living separately- have served to advertise her feigned heterosexuality allowing for keeping her homosexuality secret, what were they married for? Did she initially think it was a good idea, then change her mind? Not the most major deal, but it stuck out on reading the article! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.72.204 (talk) 22:12, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
