Children's literature[edit]

Sampson's Circus (Faber and Faber, 1936)(rare bookseller says novel was Commended runnerup for the inaugural Carnegie Medal. Now this article includes a longer statement with a reference.

The reference does not identify commended author Howard Spring except by name. The U.S. and German national libraries (External links) do not catalog this book by Howard Spring, 1889-1965. WorldCat (Ext links) does catalog this book by the same author as others covered in this article.

This is all I know about Spring's contribution to children's literature. --P64 (talk) 16:27, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

English-language[edit]

All of the mentioned titles are in English. The article should say that he wrote exclusively in English, if true. Given the Wales and Cornwall mentions, descriptions, categories we should probably say whether he was a speaker or reader of Welsh or Cornish, too. --P64 (talk) 20:58, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Placentia Bay[edit]

H. V. Morton says that he and Howard Spring sailed to Placentia Bay to witness Churchill meet with Roosevelt to forge the Atlantic Charter.

Did Spring ever write about this voyage? Morton certainly did.

Morton also said Spring was 'living aboard a yacht' or houseboat or some-such during that period, 1941.
