Hotel Lux name mistranslated[edit]

This article was translated from German and the transcription of Russian words is wrong (Franzija). The hotel name should be translated as Luxe or (Hotel)de Luxe, and not like Lux. In Russian, the name was Люксъ, this is a loan word in Russian and comes from French luxe! Obviously, the person who wrote the German Wikipedi article misunderstood the Russian name of the hotel and now this serious mistake was exported to the English Wikipedia. One should think of renaming the article.Martinp1 (talk) 20:59, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You may well be right, but it's not just the German Wikipedia that has called it this, it has been used by others and is how the hotel is apparently known in other languages, plus there is a movie calling it by this name—in the title, no less—so I think it's best to leave the article title as is to avoid confusion. The entire part about the Stalinist purges centers on the experience of German communists, and mentions no others. It was not a German hotel, there were communist party functionaries and activists from a dozen other countries there. For example, almost the entire leadership of the Polish Communist Party (KPP) was there (the party was illegal in Poland), along with tens of lesser-rank activists. The overwhelming majority of them were shot by the NKVD, most in 1937, some in 1938.
