At present I do not think that the article meets GA criteria on a number of points. If these can be rectified within a reasonable period of time however then I would be happy to reconsider that decision:

The lede does not aptly summarise the contents of the article. Moreover, its current structure—that of three solitary sentences all spaced apart—clearly does not get anywhere near our MOS requirements for ledes.
The use of referencing is incoherent. Some page numbers are included in the main text of the article, others aren't - it all needs cleaning up.
There is a strong focus on the church's place in the African-American civil rights movement of the 1960s but next-to-nothing on the rest of the church's history. On this point I fear that it fails on the point of being a comprehensive overview of the subject. Midnightblueowl (talk) 19:38, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Two weeks have past and given that the recommended time for waiting at GAN is seven days, I think it time to wrap this up. I'm afraid that it's going to be a fail at this time, but good luck with improving the article in future and hopefully it can be re-nominated at a later date once that has been done. 21:04, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
