There's a number of external links in the text e.g. [1] that should be formatted as references or prose as needed.
Similarly there a number of people mentioned formed as external links e.g. Georgina Kermode. Wikilink her name as Georgina Kermode and use the external link as a reference (start the Wikipedia article on her, if it doesn't already exist).
Why is Hertha Ayrton so notable as to appear at the end of the first paragraph of the lead section? If she's not being named as an example of a pioneer engineer then it might need explaining why her name is being used there in contrast to anyone else's.
I've marked a number of statements that I think need referencing.
Smaller stuff - there's a number of stylistic issues such as use of flowery language. If Georgina Kermode had an "extraordinary career" who says so? Reference it or tone it down to simply "career". Spell out abbreviations at first use including UK (MOS:1STABBR); don't overlink names too many times (MOS:DUPLINK); avoid terms like "Victorian era" which means nothing to most non-British readers use "mid to late 19th century" instead; always use full decades e.g. 1980s not 80s (MOS:DECADE); watch out for capital letters e.g. "Maths and Physics" should be "maths and physics" (MOS:CAPITALIZATION) and newspaper/journal article titles should be changed from all caps to title case or sentence case (MOS:ALLCAPS).

Suggest amend use of capitals in the article title (to History of women in engineering in the UK).
Maybe a mention of Dorothy Donaldson Buchanan, first female member of ICE in 1927, and later, Jean Venables, first female ICE president?
