First Secretary General[edit]

I'm just wondering... this sentence "Its first Secretary General was Sir Gladwyn Jebb." stood under establishment and i'm not sure that is right. i thought it was the norwegian Trygve Lie who was the first Secretary General. Anyone else who has the same point of view?

Of course it was TL. This 'article' is hilariously inaccurate (and tendentious) throughout.

" the archetypal international body in the early 21st century"[edit]

Tendentious nonsense. It has become a corrupt joke. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.10.154.17 (talk) 11:20, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Romulo UNCharter.jpg[edit]

Image:Romulo UNCharter.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Taiwan[edit]

The map is incorrect. Taiwan is not a member of the UN. It is not even an observer. Readin (talk) 18:44, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This bot has detected that this page contains an image, Image:United_Nations_member_countries_world_map.PNG, in a raster format. A replacement is available as a Scalable vector graphic (SVG) at File:UN Member Countries World.svg. If the replacement image is suitable please edit the article to use the vector version. Scalable vector graphics should be used in preference to raster for images that can easily represented in a vector graphic format. If this bot is in error, you may leave a bug report at its talk page Thanks SVnaGBot1 (talk) 15:18, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Churchill's visit with FDR for 3 weeks in December, 1941?[edit]

With Pearl Harbor being bombed on Dec. 7, I seriously doubt that the above visit happened in 1941. Bdels (talk) 17:20, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Soviet vetoes during the Cold War[edit]

The third sentence says that "the UN was largely paralyzed by the veto of the Soviet Union when dealing with Cold War issues from 1947 to 1989." This is a big claim to make right at the top of the article and, especially without any citation whatsoever, warns the reader that the rest of the article may have significant anti-Soviet bias. 129.97.124.1 (talk) 18:04, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
