Origins[edit]

It takes years, often decades, to pass laws in the United States. How is it even possible that this law was passed in just over one month after the 9/11 attacks? Viriditas (talk) 10:16, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

External links[edit]

I've been doing a lot of external-link cleanup this month, working through the cleanup tag backlog, and this was actually the first article I found that I was tempted to leave most of the extlinks in place; I think it's a good idea to have a balance of supporting and opposing viewpoints, and I think 3-6 links in each category is OK.

Unfortunately, most of the links that were in the article were either dead links, were redirects to a general "civil liberties" topic (ie, not necessarily related to the PATRIOT act in particular), or were a decade old but presented as current in the text of the link itself (ie, written as though their topic was a current and ongoing concern and not updated since 2003-2005 or so). I removed all of those, but I definitely think there's room for a few more retrospective-type analysis links to be added in. --rahaeli (talk) 13:13, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
