20th C[edit]

someone really needs to do a mjor edit on the orthodox part, it has a lot of things that aren't true (everyone is raised to accept the 613 mitzvot? No, I don't believe in them and I know others who don't, what we believe is the immutability of overall torah law) and confusing passages (does "modern orthodox judaism" really mean "modern orthodoxy"? The CYLOR phenomenon is definitely not limited to modern orthodoxy, perhaps the author meant modern orthodox judaism as opposed to earlier orthodox judaism? This isn't true either. I'll try to get to it myself but I may not be the best for it.

Also, although I may not be happy about it, there are some important reform teshuvot from the 20thC, such as the conferring of semi-mikdash status on modern synagogues (see blowing the shofar on saturday et al.), consideration of American civil law, the theoretical authorization of female rabbis (1920s), status of transexuals, treatment of following orthodox minhagim (several, some as old as 1907) to name some off the top of my head. I'm definitely not the best person for this, but aren't there any reform rabbis who wiki? Avraham 05:58, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not one of the contributers for this article, but I would say go ahead and take your best shot. If you wait for someone else to do it, it could be a very long wait... Dfass 06:14, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I know, I know. I'll probably take a crack at the orthodox section but the reform one really should be done by a reform person, or at loeast sometone more knowledgable on the subject. v Avraham 06:57, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
