Kazakhstan[edit]

I don't think Kazakhstan is situated in Europe. 212.2.166.30 12:29, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is, slightly. The border runs along the Ural river and if it were democratic it would be allowed into the CoE hence it's mention. See the Council of Europe article. - J Logan t: 13:05, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merging this article with the Wikipedia article the "European Coal and Steel Community"[edit]

The European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) existed from 1952 to 1967, and in 2002 the treaty that created the ECSC expired. Therefore, the Wikipedia article on the European Coal and Steel Community is, already, historical. So this page (History of the European Coal and Steel Community) could be merged with the Wikipedia article on the European Coal and Steel Community.

The exception is this article's section called "Development of the new Communities." That section discusses the Treaty of Rome and later developments in the European Union, and it is more accurately described as part of the history of the European Union (rather than the history of the ECSC). Therefore, it would be helpful to merge this section into the History of the European Union Wikipedia article.
