Is there any real need for a separate section listing immigration and nationality legislation? The relevant ones are mentioned in the text of the article. JAJ 18:04, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nowhere[edit]

The article says that "there were now citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies who had the right of residence nowhere". Mrs Gandhi said that such persons could move to India. She said this quietly, to avoid causing further maltreatment to substantial Asian minorities in East Africa. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.44.108.96 (talk) 11:13, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First ethnic & minority rights in England[edit]

When was the first ethnic & minority rights (culture education political language rights) declared in England? Don't confuse it with immigration and citizenship/nationality laws/acts! Can you write me? Many Thanks! mail: [email protected] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.2.100.11 (talk) 07:09, 19 October 2010 (UTC) See the Race Relations Act of 1965. Apart from the abolition of slavery, the 1965 British law is probably what you are referring to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.194.200 (talk) 15:55, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed on Windrush scandal article[edit]

The Windrush scandal article (which was recently 'forked off' from the Amber Rudd article), is barely coherent to a non-UK reader at present. The article lacks any 'background' section - relating to the various changes in UK laws which occurred between 1948 and 1973 - and which have been a significant part of the 'scandal'.

I would appreciate any help in making the article more coherent - especially anyone more expert than I on UK nationality and immigration laws.

Although falling in number, the article is still high traffic for page views, but low traffic for edits. Pincrete (talk) 11:40, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

British Nationality Act 1948[edit]

The article currently says that "The Commonwealth Heads of Government decided in 1948 to embark on a major change in the law of nationality throughout the Commonwealth, following Canada's decision to enact its own citizenship law in 1946." See my comments at Talk:British_nationality_law_and_the_Republic_of_Ireland#British_Nationality_Act_1948. Alekksandr (talk) 22:24, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
