Climate[edit]

Merge from Hippone[edit]

I merged Hippone with this article per this, they are the same place, and the Hippone was a very short stub article. Here is the contents of the other article, in case there is anything worth merging.

Hippone was a Phoenician trading post, established in the 9th century BC which became a prosperous Numidian city (modern coastal Algeria). It was the ally of Carthage until the fall of the latter. After Jugurtha was defeated Hippone was annexed to the Roman province of Africa Nova. In 393, the synod held in Hippone confirmed the canon lists for the Christianity in the West. Later the Epistle to the Hebrews was also added.

WikiProjects[edit]

I've added this to WikiProject Christianity using the template and projects from Augustine of Hippo; as both the home of Augustine of Hippo and the location of the Synod of Hippo (where the list of canon books still used by the Catholic Church was drawn up), it has several influences on the early history of Christianity, so I felt it appropriate. — Sasuke Sarutobi (talk) 14:30, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to remove the WP:MILHIST tag, as I think the other WikiProjects have this pretty well covered. The Siege of Hippo Regius is also under WP:MILHIST, and should cover the military aspects of the city. If you think this is a mistake and that it does have sufficient military notability to be included in MILHIST, feel free to re-add the template, just make sure to give it a quick assessment if you do, if you don't mind.
