Release date[edit]

Release date? I've fixed it, many gaming sites report the wrong release date though, as I remember buying it in 1997 :P Also, the final ESRB rating is Teen as well. It actually was "assumed" Mature because it was the sequel to Hexen before h2 recieved it's official rating. I'm surprised it got T as well, with all it's gore and nudity even. - CheapAlert

Thanks, I noticed some wierdness with the release date of H2 in some wikipedia pages a while back, so I checked some gaming sites for confirmation. I too thought 1998 was too late for the release, but the gaming sites said 1998. Thanks for clearing this up. Qutezuce 18:54, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Just because you "remember" buying it in 1997, doesn't make it fact. Gaming sites listing it as 1998 is much more accurate then your recollection. Caciss 00:15, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It was most definitely 1997, late-1997 according to the dates of the files on the Hexen 2 CD I have here. The gaming sites are wrong, they must be thinking of Heretic 2.
According to Ravens own site, Hexen II is Mature.
I recall it being from 1997 too, mainly because it was one of the first games to support hardware accelerated graphics out of the box. according to the the retail disc the game is from 1997 (see this scan on mobygames.com, if you don't have one) what would interest me more is that the boxart clearly shows the game being rated teen while raven and various other sources say it's rating is mature (what sounds much more realistic, anyway)
