This article may not be quite notable.

First of all, is the subject notable? Well, his only major scientific achievement was the description of Mansourasaurus, which appeared in many news articles at the beginning of 2018, which may make him notable, but since then he has fell out of the limelight, with no more papers from him (if there were any) getting as big a press coverage. Also, while there is one secondary source on the article (which I cited here), it also cites Sallam's CV, which fails one of the requirements of WP:GNG (If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are "independent of the subject" it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article ... "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by the article's subject). Perhaps most shockingly, Sallam appears to be editing the article himself, under the name of User:Mansourasaurus. Per WP:AUTOBIO, "Writing an autobiography on Wikipedia is an example of conflict of interest editing and is strongly discouraged." I know this because the aforementioned user wrote an edit summary that states, in verbatim, "adding more of my bio".

I definitely think this article would be deleted if it went to AfD, I don't think that his publication record passes WP:PROF and coverage fails WP:GNG. There are other articles on academic palaeontologists that probably don't pass WP:PROF, including Nizar Ibrahim and Matt Wedel. Ultimately these articles won't be deleted unless someone specifically makes the effort to do so, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Victoria Arbour went no concensus. Hello :) I wrote this article in the heat of the moment when the discovery was still fresh. Rereading the article now after the other additions, it definitely seem to have veered into a more biased recount of the subject. Maybe fixing this is better than deletion? One question I have is about what user Atlantis said regarding staying in the limelight. Is that actually a requirement to be on Wikipedia. I know it for academic purposes, but why for Wikipedia? Reem, what I said about "staying in the limelight" is that Wikipedia generally doesn't create articles for people that are famous for a single, notable accomplishment; usually articles are created about the event in particular. From WP:ONEEVENT: "When an individual is significant for his or her role in a single event, it may be unclear whether an article should be written about the individual, the event or both. In considering whether to create separate articles, the degree of significance of the event itself and of the individual's role within it should both be considered. The general rule is to cover the event, not the person. However, if media coverage of both the event and the individual's role grow larger, separate articles may become justified." The event in this case was the description of Mansourasaurus, which was already covered in that dinosaur's article. Since Western media reports didn't talk about Sallam further, I was questoning whether his separate article could be justified. However, when I nominated this article for deletion, more reports about Sallam were discovered, so the article was kept. Atlantis536 (talk) 04:59, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

Selected Publications

TasnemAli90 has recently significantly expanded the "Selected publications" section of this article, and I have some concerns. My main concern is that I don't think it's really good form to indiscriminately include every single publication by Dr. Sallam in the list; I can't think of any other article on an academic that contains a comprehensive list of every publication listing the subject of the article as a co-author, much less one that also includes all unpublished work such as posters. Additionally, the list needs a serious reformatting, including the removal of duplicates, and I think it's redundant to include articles not otherwise referenced in the article in both the bibliography and list of publications—you don't really need to provide a citation for something that is already itself a citation.
