Henry VII ChapelHenry VII's Lady Chapel – I want to move the page back to its former name. Article was moved to its current title without discussion, the website of Westminster Abbey refers to the chapel as The Lady Chapel. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 22:21, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'd like to see some evidence of the relative frequency of the two. Johnbod (talk) 22:40, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Proposed H V Lady Chapel not very common. Any argument for that despite being in a minority of sources? If not then sources indicate Henry VII's Chapel. Current title "VII Chapel" almost unknown nor inline with Category:Chapels in London, In ictu oculi (talk) 02:18, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. My perusal of Google Books (limited to 21st-century books) shows usage all over the place. I found "Lady Chapel of Henry VII", "Chapel of Henry VII", "Henry VII's Chapel", "Lady Chapel", "Henry VII Lady Chapel", "Henry VII Chapel", and "Henry VII's Lady Chapel", all in the first 50 results. The most popular was "Henry VII's Chapel", with "Henry VII Chapel" (the current title) and "Chapel of Henry VII" coming in second. None of the permutations including "Lady Chapel" appeared more than twice in the first 50 results. The current title is actually reasonably common; otherwise, I'd go with In ictu's suggestion of "Henry VII's Chapel". Dohn joe (talk) 20:57, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Here's an ngram with further rough confirmation that any of the three "Lady Chapel"-less forms is probably acceptable. Dohn joe (talk) 22:47, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for that- very helpful. There seems no single formulation that is predominant, and including "Lady" is unlikely to confuse those looking for "Henry VII's Chapel", while being useful for those looking for a Lady Chapel. So mild support for the proposed change, with "Henry VII's Chapel" as #2. We should check what redirects are in place. Johnbod (talk) 11:58, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
