Television Reception[edit]

I fixed some inaccuracies in the television reception section. The Hemet area is in somewhat of a black hole reception-wise, and as such because of federal regulations is located in the Los Angeles DMA, and therefore stations from the San Diego area haven't been available on cable for some years now. Furthermore, even though Hemet, is geographically close to the Palm Springs DMA, the location of Mt. San Jacinto prevents the over-the-air reception of KESQ-TV, the ABC affiliate in Palm Springs, which would otherwise clearly be viewable in the area. However, I have not altered this particular text unless someone has new information. I am aware that station had been looking to relocate its tower in the San Jacinto Mountains to better cover western Riverside County, which is currently located and served by stations in the Los Angeles market.--Larry G (talk) 22:27, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Late reply, K82BH was the simulator of KESQ-TV from the late 1960s to the late 1980s, then moved to channel 53 in the early 1990s and again, channel 35 in the early 2000s until it went off the air before 2010. Hemet used to have over-air reception of San Diego's KGTV and KNSD (NBC stations), KFMB-TV (CBS affiliate), the independent KUSI and KPBS-TV obviously for named PBS. Satellite services in the Hemet area may carry most of Palm Springs and San Diego stations. 67.49.85.100 (talk) 20:42, 1 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Demographics[edit]

Hemet and nearby San Jacinto have turned into a suburban bedroom community for the middle class, whom commute for 30-60 miles to their jobs in urban areas. It has been popular for starter homes by those who work in L.A. and San Diego. Also a larger number of new residents happen to be Asian esp. Chinese or Korean, and about 40-50% of Hemet's population are of Latino origin (the 28% reading in the 2000 US census is like an underestimate). The black/African-American population is said to grew by 75% in the 1990's, but doubled to 150% in the 2000's. Hemet should have over 80,000 residents by now. Hemet used to have more senior citizens until the wave of baby-boomers moved in and began to have or raised children in a community where housing prices were comparably cheap and the real estate building booms of the 1980's and 90s met the high demand. The population became younger in average age, no longer Hemet was viewed strictly "Heaven's waiting room". The San Jacinto Valley used to be a middle-class rural small-town environment, a mostly white or Latino/Spanish-speaking city until 20 years ago (more likely in San Jacinto) when the demographics of Hemet/San Jacinto was radically altered. + 71.102.26.168 (talk) 20:49, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Revival[edit]

A Transformation video by George Otis features this town, but its claims of Christian revival have been disputed. Could we have some facts about current church/religious trends in the area?andycjp (talk) 13:44, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
