Merge proposal[edit]

In my opinion this article should be merged/redirected to Heidelberg University#Organization#Faculties. All of the content currently in this article is already located there, and a merge is necessary per WP:OVERLAP. Also the translation tag is misleading as the corresponding tagged article is on the university and not the faculty of theology which does not have a page in any wiki other than the English language wiki, and there isn't much else on the "Heidelberg University Faculty of Theology" in the German language wiki page on the university. That translation tag should be removed.4meter4 (talk) 18:05, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This proposal (merge and redirect) did not find consensus in a discussion closed not even four hours ago. Please do not try to subvert consensus. Graham (talk) 23:21, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Graham11 There is no consensus to subvert. did you even read the closing statement? That AFD literally closed as “no consensus” and the closer specifically suggested a merge proposal as an option going forward. Hence why this is now here. This was the recommended next step by the closing admin. 4meter4 (talk) 03:55, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. I see the article has been expanded to include a list of people after this WP:MERGEPROP was made. This is good movement towards establishing a need for a separate article. However, if it is just a list of people, then it probably should be merged to the List of Heidelberg University people where the content could be organized under all the various schools. There isn't really a good reason to have multiple people list articles for a university. If the goal here is to establish a definitive need for an article on this topic, then we need a better substantiated/developed prose section that is meaningfully different (as in addresses the history of this topic directly and in detail) than what is housed at Heidelberg University and which is not merely a list of people that is an unnecessary content fork of List of Heidelberg University people.4meter4 (talk) 13:43, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Heidelberg University (Ohio) Confusion[edit]

I often come across another Heidelberg University when researching on pages like jstor.org, which is located in Ohio. Jstor solves the confusion by designating the University in Ohio as "Heidelberg University", while the one in the German city of Heidelberg is designated as "University of Heidelberg".

As you can see on the webpage for Heidelberg University (https://www.heidelberg.edu), they consider themselves "Heidelberg University", while the webpage for the University of Heidelberg (https://www.uni-heidelberg.de) says "Universität Heidelberg" in German and "Heidelberg University" in English. Due to the fact that "Universität Heidelberg" roughly translates to "University (of) Heidelberg" I believe it would be in order to change this pages name to avoid confusion between the two entities. 147.142.158.87 (talk) 21:53, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
