POV[edit]

I have edited the following copy: "In 1970, Miller joined the council of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and was elected chairman of the gallery's society after his opponent for the position, art patron Mervyn Horton was filmed by the ABC commenting on Miller's Jewish background. As chairman, Miller was instrumental in revitalising the gallery from an austere, staid Sydney institution to a modern, welcoming venue."

I have left this statement as it appears to be factual and without bias. "In 1970, Miller joined the council of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and was elected chairman of the gallery's society.^[1]

The newspaper article used as a reference is only quoting Miller and there is no neutral pov thus slandering Mervyn Horton. A search shows the same comments are made in Miller's ghost written biography by Peter Holder^[2] but without an independent version of these events Wikipedia should not repeat them. Miller's view that he "was instrumental in revitalising the gallery from an austere, staid Sydney institution to a modern, welcoming venue" is also questionable unless stated by an appropriate third person. This statement needs to be viewed in conjunction with any accounts of the directorships of Hal Missingham and Edmund Capon. When did the AGNSW in fact become a "modern, welcoming venue". Who makes this change happen ... a single council member, the leader of a support group or an art gallery director?
