Feedback on original draft[edit]

Your article on Harriet Robinson Scott is off to a great start. It looks like there is still research to do. I think this will help pull the article together. And don't forget to cite your sources. I think that there should be a section for this at the bottom.

Regarding your lead, I would link the court case to the wikipedia page on the talk page. This will help give an overview of what the case is on and help give credibility to your article. I would also link to her husband as well. It is really good and I think it really shows her contribution.

In the Early Life section, the phrase, "Many of those who were..." is kind of jumbled and wordy. If I were you I would split the sentence into two and reword it. Also in the following section, the sentence, "Harriet lived among and worked alongside.." I would go ahead and take out the word among. That would make it flow better.

You might even want to have a section on the case itself and her involvement in it. I am not sure what you have planned, but that might be good.

So far, you seem to have organization throughout your whole article. I think once you get more of the research, your article will be much more holistic. You have a really good start and I think it sounds really interesting! Good work! Epchdc (talk) 16:58, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

--I'm sorry the rest of my information didn't save when my safari quit so there wasn't more for you both to revise. But I am going to have a sources section at the bottom along with linking not only the court case but also to her husband's page to the page I am making about her. Thanks for the suggestions! Your article looks pretty interesting as it relates to Dred Scott, an important figure in our American history. It looks like there needs to be more information on Harriet Scott, which I’m sure you’ll get whenever your computer gets working again. I would add a lot of links to other Wikipedia pages to add to the page’s importance. For example, I would link her husband Dred Scott, Fort Snelling, and anything in regards to slavery. In the first sentence of the Early Life section you mentioned that she was born “around 1820”. I would try to get an exact year of her birth but that could be difficult knowing that slaves personal information wasn’t well documented. I don’t know much about Harriet Scott but if she was influential in abolitioning slavery, I would highlight her importance in your following work. --I don't know if I am going to be able to find an exact date of birth for her because I haven't been able to find it yet. Thanks for the suggestions! Claireeewills (talk) 00:58, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback from Prof. P[edit]

Good work. This article exists where there wasn't one before! That is huge! You've done a good job here dividing her life events into accessible sections. The picture is especially excellent--we need more pictures of women of color. Can you get help adding personal information around the picture- check out other Wikipedia.org pages to see examples. I'd also like to see some approximate life dates following her name. We have her death date, does her gravestone give a birth year? Do we have a picture of her gravestone? If so, let's add it to her page. And any other photos concerning the Scott family that you can find. They'll help us get this page stabilized by December 2016! Removing single source warning[edit]

I am going to remove the single source warning from the top of the main page. I've been working on the article and it now has multiple reliable sources. Be4waugh (talk) 04:01, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adding sections about slavery and Mexican American War[edit]

Hello Wikipedians, I noticed this page could use more detailed information. I plan to add to the section on life in slavery and her involvement in the Mexican American War. Stang22 (talk) 20:29, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Stang22! Just wanted to give you a friendly tip concerning something I've found helpful. If you ever have a lot to do on a page and would like help from other Wikipedians, you can add a {{To do}} template on the article's talk page. That will allow you to add goals that other Wikipedians can help you reach. Hope this helps :) CivilianArthur (talk) 20:36, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
