notability[edit]

The Hanover Shoe Farms is CERTAINLY a notable facility. It is HUGE in its field. It is certainly as worthy of a Wikipedia article as much of the Simpsons and Star Wars minutiae I've found (and that's speaking as a huge Simpsons fan). Granted, it's not a well-written article, but it's a worthy subject.PurpleChez 15:26, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • From my understanding this article wasn't ready to go on when it was posted, at the time of the posting it was only a rough draft. Edits to it will be made so it is improved.

  • Hanover Shoe Farms is a leading breeder of standardbred horses and has had a major influence in harness racing since the early 1900's. Their stallions and bloodlines are present in the pedigrees of horses racing every night across the country and often the world. You have a Wikipedia article about Georgia Pacific who is by a Hanover stallion (Western Hanover) and historical horses such as Bret Hanover & Adios as well as Hanover's Bertha included in your stubs. I have re-edited the article with references noted as to the importance of Hanover Shoe Farms influence within it's industry. A book was published in 2001, Quest For Excellence, to mark the farm's 75th anniversary and a comprehensive historical chronicle of it's past and present as well as its importance within the horse breeding industry were noted (notability). It is certainly as important as Calumet Farm which also has a Wikipedia article. Internal links were added in the article on subject matters that are also within the standardbred domain and are included elsewhere on Wikipedia. 4.239.225.94 15:16, 17 May 2007 (UTC)PM[reply]
  • This article has made progress. ~Rainpaw
  • Why is there a question about the article's notability. I believe it would fall under the 'company' requierment. ~Rainpaw

Changes[edit]

I have catagorized the article and many links are there so I deleted those flags. I also deleted the notability flag. I'll work on cleanup soon. ~Rainpaw

  • There. I divided the article into sections, reorganized the references, added external links, etc... I'm also trying to put a picture in but am having a hard time. Can someone specify what the cleanup tag is for so I can take care of it. Barn Cat 18:23, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bias?[edit]

This article uses very slanted language, I only read a couple paragraphs in before I tagged it. The entire article needs revamping. Sean Montgomery 14:22, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. We'll get to work on that when we get the chance. Barn Cat 16:45, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Take your time, as I see it, there's no need to rush. Sean Montgomery 06:39, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My edits[edit]

I came across this article while on one of my weasel hunts. I stuck around for the better part of an hour to untangle this mess. I don't expect people to be happy with my changes, and if they are reverted, it won't matter to me. I say that because an edit war is not on my agenda.

The language, I cleaned that up as best I could to provide more neutrality. I also slaughtered several weasels. However, when it came to the history section, I balked. There are huge amounts of highly obtuse information listed there. Paragraph after paragraph of which horse did what and when and how much and how many, all written in a very "insider" motif. I ended up removing almost all of it.

I believe that those sections can be added back, if reworded and with less information. I also think it won't hurt to put them back if edited for clarity. That's about the best rationale I can give for my changes. I won't be coming back to the article, as I am a random page weasel hunter. However, if anyone feels strongly enough about the issue, my talk page is always open. Kale Weathers (talk) 14:14, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
