Conflicting information[edit]

This entry states that Craft's manuscript was "likely written after 1865." However the entry for "The Bondswoman's Narrative" cites an expert who states that "the manuscript was written before 1861, because had it been written afterward, it would have most certainly contained some mention of the war or at least secession." Also analysis of the ink used, according to the same entry, seems to indicate it was written prior to 1860. Either the manuscript was written prior to 1861 or it was written after 1865. None of the dates are claimed to be definitive, so presenting conflicting dates is a means of being neutral per WP:NPOV. We can always alter the wording if this is unclear. The book is more closely linked to Bleak House, not Our Mutual Friend according to scholar Rachel Teukolksy.
