Untitled[edit]

This article is factually inaccurate; the building was not built in 1926, in fact it is almost 300 years older than that, if not older (the side of the building bears the initials IH and KS, and the year 1628). I don't have any photographic evidence at the moment to back this up, but I may get some. It is generally accepted that the original laird of Hamilton House was a man called John Hamilton (hence the IH, which would have been equivalent to JH in the 17th century), who, confusingly, was not the John Hamilton who owned the nearby Preston Tower, although it is considered that the latter built it. The former John Hamilton was thought to be the brother-in-law of the laird of nearby Northfield House, Joseph Marjoribanks. There are sources out there for all this information, but I don't have them. :) --Radioshed (talk) 20:20, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
