Untitled[edit]

The contents of this article were, probably by mistake, first listed in the African politician stub. I moved the information to here, but it remains to be wikified.

POV[edit]

The reference to "apartheid regime" is politically biased. South African government or authorities would be less POV.203.184.41.226 (talk) 08:54, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's one way of putting it. But after the UN revoked the South African mandate to govern South-West African territory in 1966, "regime" is actually less POV than "government", and apartheid was introduced in 1948. The entire paragraph is actually unreferenced, how about digging up a ref and take over a wording that is supported there? --Pgallert (talk) 21:17, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The UN had no authority whatsoever to revoke a mandate of governance. And well. South African government is for sure applicable to a government of the Republic of South Africa. Regime is problematic since it's quite equivocating with its meaning. It can be simply a name typifying a form of government or policy or - when used in propaganda - the word signifies something rather denigration about another government. Apartheid is a propaganda term right from the beginning. First as slogan of the National Party, which then was rather gladly picked up by its opponents. 105.0.1.80 (talk) 19:40, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Who else than the institution that awarded the mandate would have the authority to take it away? "South African government" is all fair and fine, for as long as it governs South Africa. If it governs an illegally occupied territory... well, I'm sure you know what I am going to say. Re:"Regime": If you have a better word for an administration that suppresses the majority of the territory's citizens, let's hear. --Pgallert (talk) 11:53, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I rated this as start class for the relative lack of references, and low priority as an early African politician who does not appear to have had impact must past the office he held. Staxringold talkcontribs 23:29, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
