Spelling of Bellecour[edit]

Hi,

This book [1] suggests that Bellecourt is written Bellecour. This makes sense as his name would mean pretty courtyard [2] instead of pretty short (but the latter does not make sense in French... pretty short translates to pas mal court or plutôt court...). My best source on the subject says "Bellecourt" (Medzini, Meron French Policy in Japan Harvard University Press 1971, ISBN 674322304 [3]). Google is also overwhelmingly in favour of "Bellecourt" rather than "Bellecour" (19,000 vs 200). His official name (connected to his book La colonie de Saigon [4]) indeed seems to be "Bellecourt" though. Cheers PHG Per Honor et Gloria 18:11, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, this is interesting. It does seem to be the same person. If I stumble on anything more definite, I will let you know. Thanks for answering! Gene.arboit (talk) 21:05, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
