Suggestion to improve article lead[edit]

The article lead does not read very well at the moment, it's only one sentence long and does not summarise the article, offering only a modest dictionary-style definition.

Improved Production Cars is a club level motorsport category for touring cars that races all across Australia. Established in the early 1990s as Club Cars, it was created as a method for amateur racing drivers to modify production sedans and some sports cars for motor racing purposes in a relatively modest manner, while still providing some freedom of construction in the creation of cars. It was intended to reflect the culture of modifying road cars for improved performance.

It has been a successful category with state championships racing in all six states of Australia in large numbers. From 1994 a single event national championship has been held and is a popular late season event for competitors. The nationals rotate from state to state with Tasmania set to host the 2012 nationals Baskerville Raceway, near Hobart.
